Foreword
A macro-regional strategy is an integrated framework designed to address common challenges faced by Member States and third countries located in the same functional area, leading to a greater economic, social and territorial cohesion.
The Alpine Strategy focuses on stimulating an innovative and sustainable growth model. The seven countries of the macro-region will be able to step up a gear in their cooperation in the fields of research and innovation, SME support, mobility, tourism, environmental protection and resource management.

Concerning the scope and objectives, the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) will focus on four key policy areas Three thematic:

1 - Economic growth and innovation

2 - Connectivity and mobility,

3 - Environment and energy,

And, in addition, a fourth horizontal objective was identified: the need to build a sound and efficient governance model for the macro-region, which makes the Strategy on the Alpine Region "unique" in relation to the other Macroregional Strategies.
During this workshop, panelists should focus the debate on this 4th Objective, their own ideas and views on how the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region may contribute to its achievement.

Furthermore, and based on the different experiences and background of the panelists, this workshop aim of answering to some basic questions on multilevel governance and partnership:
• How the governance structures of EUSALP, at its different levels, can contribute to developing a well-performing system facilitating a successful accomplishment the EUSALP objectives?
 How to better involve all interested stakeholders public and private (transnational, regional and local level) in the implementation of the Strategy?
 How civil society will be able to bring in their proposals and have them discussed by decision makers, encouraging citizen participation in public life and improving the overall social inclusion?
 How to ensure political support during all the implementation phase?

• How overcome national boundaries and sectoral and cultural barriers to ensure coordination/cooperation and the internal coherence between the different actions in the policy areas of the Strategy?
